The pier

In the second half of the 800, Forte dei Marmi was the important transit point of the marbles on the way to the nearby Alpi Apuane. At this time, there was the need to create a loading bridge that would simplify the loading and unloading of goods, especially of marbles.
The bridge was built between 1876 and 1877: it was capable of loading about 20 tons of marble. It represented the turning point that significantly improved the operations, increasing the commercial productivity of the town.

The fort

The fort is located in the town centre, in Piazza Garibaldi in Forte dei Marmi. The central position of the fort is due to the historical importance of this construction: commissioned by Leopold I, the fort was a fundamental point of defence for the citizens of Forte dei Marmi in the eighteenth century.
Built for defensive needs and sighting, it is today one of the most popular historical destinations of the city, a place of cultural and historical interest of great beauty.

The Albertone

The Albertone was built in the 1700s as a holiday home for some Russian princes. Surrounded by green woods, it is a perfect destination both for winter holidays (being located in a strategic point for winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing) and for summer holidays.
For some years it has been included in the list of Green Centre of Italy, as it hosts natural reserves of local fauna and flora.
